Modupe (Mo) Adefeso-Olateju is Managing Director of The Education Partnership Centre (TEP Centre) and a policy expert specializing in public-private partnerships in education. She leads workstreams on a range of education sector support initiatives funded or assisted by international donors and corporate funders, and trains public sector officials and development organizations on strategic planning, and monitoring and evaluation. She is leading the implementation of LEARNigeria; Nigeria’s citizen-led household assessment and advocacy programme which is assessing the foundational literacy and numeracy competencies of 5-15 year olds in Nigeria and supporting the implementation of remedial programmes for communities. Mo also leads the team which plans and hosts the annual Education Innovation Summit (NEDIS).
Mo was a member of the technical team assembled by the Honourable Minister of Education (Nigeria) and wrote a section of the Federal Ministry of Education’s Strategic Plan for Education (2011-2015). She currently serves on the advisory committee of the Brookings Institution Center for Universal Education (CUE) Millions Learning 2.0 programme. She previously worked with DfID’s ESSPIN Programme, Accenture and Junior Achievement, and serves as a trustee of three nonprofits. As a Centenary Scholar (Africa), she received a PhD in Education and International Development from the Institute of Education (IOE), University of London where her research probed the effectiveness of public and private schools in Nigeria and proposed a framework for public-private partnership (PPP) in the education sector.
