WHAT IS THE ISSUE?
The digital marketing and communications sector provides massive employment opportunities for youthful Africa - a continent that is plagued by jobless economic growth. While the 18-34 age group is the most active in this sector based on the preliminary analysis of our available online survey data, the continent lacks comprehensive information on the existing digital marketing skill gaps across key competencies.

"Countries need to ensure people have the skills they need to minimize these future impacts [brought about by the advent of 4IR]—and help drive transformation in the process"
- African Centre for Economic Transformation.

SOLUTION
Establishment of the annual Digital Marketing Skills in Africa Audit (DMSAA). The main aim of this initiative is to test Africa's competency levels for given digital marketing skills using an online survey. 10 000 digital marketing and communications professionals on the African continent are targeted for participation.

This session will take a deep dive into the finding of our inaugural Digital Marketing Skills in Africa Audit. We'll share our learnings and glean insights for what the future holds and how we can better prepare ourselves and African Youth.

Attendees can expect to gain a better understanding of:
[1] Digital Marketing skills trends
[2] The digital marketing skills that are key for 2020
[3] How Africa is performing against the key digital marketing skills, based on the outcomes of DMSAA 2020. This performance will be compared with Nigeria's data.

ABOUT THE DMSAA 2020
The 2020 edition incorporates 10 digital marketing skills. The online survey, which is already live, closes on 31 January 2020. A report of this edition will be unveiled at SMW Lagos, the first of 3 African cities where the report will be presented to the public. The next 2 stops will be Johannesburg and Nairobi.
