Every day young people across Africa are shaping and reshaping their identities. Each of them has their own perception of history – a past that defines them in many ways but often remains elusive. How do these personal histories blend in a general history of Africa? The session will bring together history and social media experts making the point of African Roots, DW’s multi-media series of portraits covering African history.

Main Takeaways
[1] How to tell history in a social media context
[2] How to relate to history on the thin line between hard facts and debate
[3] History identity and the role of international media
