SOCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY: Rethinking Good Governance in Nigeria

Communities in Nigeria are constantly deprived of access to basic human needs like health care, water and education, despite that billions of naira are appropriated for the provision of health facilities, quality education, water, good roads, infrastructures, and clean energy  in these regions. However, these funds do not reach the areas.

The concept of Social Accountability as a progressive governance initiative demands that public service holders are held accountable for improved services to citizens, especially as funds have been budgeted and allocated for these services.

This panel will spark conversations about how young people can begin to use information technologies to drive evidence-based information about capital funds by government and international aid, to accelerate social and economic progress.
