"With the US strategically planning for energy security in the future by using data and statistics gathered, there is a compelling case for Africa to gather, analyse and intelligently interpret data for effective optimization of energy resources. In the US it is expected that by 2020, 30% of the Mobile Workforce will use Augmented Reality, 20% will be seized by Digital Disruptors, 25% will leverage public Cloud, 85% of utilities will speed up digital innovations, $138bn would be spent on smart homes in 2023, 20% F500 companies will sell excess power by 2020 and $4.6bn will be spent on smart grid data analytics. Where is Africa and Nigeria's statistics?

There is a huge market, jobs and yet to be created businesses opportunities around data analytics. Most compelling should be a case for accurate data for investment in the Energy sector. Planning for prudent utilization of resources in energy security would be most effectively achieved if relevant and accurate data exists. Most significantly, to create value in the Energy, Power, Infrastructure, Oil and Gas industries certain skills and competencies are required. Lonadek hopes to start the conversation of what should the future of Energy in Africa look like and what social media tools can deliver the data required to chart the right course for individuals, entrepreneurs and businesses?.
